General overview

After you load your library, hit the dice, it will pick the sounds from it, arrange them into a pattern, apply up to 14 effects per sound with variation per hit, apply post processing & spit out a ready-made drum loop. Hit one button to reroll all or just sounds, patterns or FX or particular sounds individually, edit the sequence, the effects per hit, add post-processing, do crazy automations with custom effects & adjust the randomization ranges to get insane drums that'll perfectly fit your songs.

How to use Voltage

This section will go over every single feature of Voltage, so that everything is clear & you know how to use the plugin the way it was intended & maximize its potential.

01 · Main View

LOAD THE LIBRARYOpen kit menu → click LOAD LIBRARY → pick a folder with your sound library
HIT REROLLThe plugin will pick a random pre-made pattern, fill each slot with random sounds from your library, process each sound individually & spit out a sick drum loop.
REROLL THE SOUNDSIf you don't like the sounds that have been chosen, hit the WAV button & reroll only them.
REROLL THE PATTERNIf you don't like the pattern that's been chosen, reroll it with the PTN button.
REROLL FXIf you don't like how the sounds have been processed, hit the FX button & reroll it.
FINAL SOUNDGrab the waveform to drag the drum loop into your DAW, or keep it playing in the plugin.
BPMSet up your own BPM or lock it with the host tempo.
PATTERNChoose the length & whether the pattern is supposed to be a preset or more random.
KITChange the sounds that land on each hit by typing what name gets searched for a particular slot, type OR to use multiple words, type a global word if you want each sound to have it plus the sound plus the word for per slot.
LOCKIf you don't want the particular thing to keep getting rerolled when pressing the main reroll button, just lock it.

02 · Pattern Sequencer

THE SEQUENCERArrange or modify the pattern in a desired way, so that you have full control over the pattern & you get the one that you want.
PREVIEW & REROLLReroll the pattern, sound or FX of a particular hit, click on it to preview, right click to mute & control left click to solo.
PLUGIN/DAWDecide whether the playback happens only in the plugin, or it syncs with the DAW.
FILL EVERYDepending on the button pressed, it will help you fill every/every other/every fourth/every eighth cell to make your life easier.
REROLL CONTROLSThe reroll buttons from the main view have been also brought here for easier access.
LOCK TO NOT REROLLJust hit the lock for the rerolls to not touch it.
EDIT EFFECTSEdit what each effect on each particular sound does, so that you can modify the loop in any way that you want.

03 · Edit Effects

SLOT SELECTION STRIPChoose which slot to modify the effects of. Right-Click to mute, hold Ctrl+Click to solo, hold Right-Click & slide to mute multiple, hold Ctrl+Click & slide to solo multiple, hold Left-Click & slide to quickly go between the slots, Click to preview the slot.
EFFECTSPick which effect you want to modify. Hold Left-Click & slide to quickly go between the effects.
EDIT VALUESEdit individual values of individual hits by dragging them up & down. Holding Alt disables snap & holding Shift enables fine tuning.
EDIT RANGESEdit the range that the global randomization will use for a particular sound. From that moment this becomes a manual range & you can disable it for a particular effect in the Randomization Matrix manual section. This also applies the per-hit random offset from a value that lands within this region.
DRAW/LINEEnable drawing with a pen or drawing with a line. Values will snap to it when crossed.
VALUE ADJUSTMENT STRIPAdjust all values at the same time. Hold Alt to disable snapping & hold Shift for fine adjustment.
GLOBAL/PER HITEnable or disable whether a particular effect on a particular sound receives a global and/or per-hit randomization, reroll with the dice & set up an additional per-hit percentage offset.

04 · FX Sequencer

PICK AN EFFECTPick one of the sixteen effects (left click to select it, drag to reorder, right click to disable it).
MODIFYChange the effect's parameters on the XY pad.
AUTOMATEToggle on the automation, as soon as you start dragging the XY pad, the automation will start drawing itself.
EDIT/CREATE AUTOMATIONSUse a pen tool to draw or correct the automation, hit X/Y to switch between the axes.

05 · Randomization Matrix

PARAMETER RANGESet the in & out points to specify the range for random values to land in as you reroll.
INCLUDE/MANUALClick on the effect control to bring this up. Decide on what drums a particular effect gets applied & whether it receives a per-hit additional randomization. Also decide whether it uses its own range that you set up in the edit effects panel.
PER HITAdditional random value offset percentage that happens per hit within a previously specified global range.
REROLL FXRerolls all the effects values within the updated ranges.
FX PRESETSSome of the sections have premade FX range presets for fast switching.
GLOBAL/PER HIT/CLEAR CONTROLSReroll all effects values globally or per hit, or clear the manual strip.

Frequently asked questions

What format is the plugin?

The plugin is in a VST3 & AU format (.VST3 & .component).

Will it work in my DAW?

If your DAW supports VST3 or AU plugins (which almost all do nowadays), then yes.

Which audio files does the library scan pick up?

WAV, AIF, AIFF, FLAC, OGG & MP3 within folders & subfolders, capped at six seconds.

How does it know which file is a kick & which one is a snare?

Based on the words specified in the KIT menu. It defaults to a premade collection of words per each slot, unless there's anything manually written in the fields. Multiple words per slot can be used using an OR separator.
